Triodos: Social plan report June 17, 2022

De Unie accepted Triodos' request to negotiate a social plan. On 7 and 16 June 2022, we discussed the content of the social plan, based on proposals from the employer.

Consultation

The consultations are being conducted seriously and constructively. Triodos is willing to listen to the arguments of De Unie, which enabled us to find each other on a number of topics.

Social plan

Agreements are made in the social plan on various subjects. Some examples:

  • The way in which it is determined who becomes redundant. The parties are almost in agreement on an objective process. There are still a few minor points that we need to establish.
  • The help Triodos offers to redundant employees to find another job. For example, you can think of engaging an outplacement agency, exemption from work so that you can focus on applying for a job and an amount to follow necessary training. In particular, we are still discussing the amount needed for outplacement and the possibility of financing training. We also discuss the number of months that your employment will continue without you having to work.
  • The severance pay, it is customary in the Netherlands for a company to pay a severance payment to employees who lose their job as a result of a reorganisation. Triodos has made a proposal that is above the statutory transition payment. De Unie want the amount of the termination fee in line with what is usually agreed in the financial sector, this is even higher. This topic has not yet been completed.
  • final bill. If the employment contract is terminated, the mutual obligations must be properly handled. It is also important that it is clear that you have no repayment obligation and that you are not bound by any non-competition clause. This consultation has been completed.

Follow-up consultation

We are already well on our way to agreeing a social plan. The next meeting is on Thursday 23 June 2022. The intention is to reach agreement on the last points on this day. In particular, the amount of the severance payment and the period of exemption from work are important topics on this day.

Members determine

If we manage to reach an agreement with Triodos on June 23, 2022, De Unie explain the draft social plan to the members. Then I, Inge de Vries (advocacy representative) will ask the members to cast their vote. The members ultimately determine whether the social plan is established.
