Contract catering & hospitality

Negotiations for the sector collective labor agreement took place on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. Most of the time was spent on technical consultations between a number of executives and representatives of employers about the annual hours system. It was not a negotiation but an explanatory conversation about the daily practice of scheduling in parts A and B at the various caterers and the issues encountered. It was experienced by both parties as an open conversation, which led to greater understanding of each other's points of view. Perhaps this will help us to move the negotiations forward, because the trade unions and employers were stuck on this. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 27, 2024 and will be back on the agenda.

Inflight

On Thursday, March 21, there was another negotiation for the inflight section of the Contract Catering Collective Labor Agreement. De Unie has given a qualitative description of what we want to achieve in the field of wage development. The features of this bet are:

  • The total package of employment conditions for the inflight section of the Contract Catering Collective Labor Agreement must be demonstrably competitive with the companies operating at Schiphol.
  • The employment conditions package at KLM is the first point of reference.
  • This is also experienced by starting and experienced employees (test moment).
  • The comparison is based on three typical positions based on Orba job weighting and collective labor agreement salary comparisons.
  • The comparison is over the entire intended collective labor agreement period.
  • The intended salary increase is a combination of a fixed amount and a fixed percentage.
  • The entire wage structure is in an explainable and appropriate proportion.
  • There will be/are clear development paths to enable growth in positions, scales and wages.
  • There will be a new job center including an inflight section.
  • Offer employees the opportunity to switch from 93,3% to 100% and schedule the scheduled ATV days (code 028) from Monday to Friday, which ensures a better spread of attendance and allows employees to earn more wages .

Employers then made a new wage offer to the trade unions. Employer side proposal:

  • Pay everyone equally (union starting point) €200 + 3%.
  • Strengthen scale I (+ 2,5%) to achieve more quality.
  • Strengthen scale II (+ 1,5%) to stimulate continued growth in anticipation of the New Factory.
  • Repair of kink in scale III by moving to step III.0 is no longer necessary.
Scale    I     II    III   IV     V    VI   VII   VIII
 Home  15.3%  13.9%  14,1%  11,2%  10,4%  9,7%  9,1%  8,6%
 End  14,6%  13,0%  13,2%  12,5%  9,6%  8,8%  8,3%  7,8%
  • Prevent outflow by an extra step scale IV (2% extra outflow).

The proposal of De Unie In order to go from 93,3% to 100% for a full-time contract, employers want to include self-scheduling in their pilot. We can then test whether we can make this a permanent part of the collective labor agreement. If the collective labor agreement parties agree on the pilot, it must also be coordinated with the works council (OR) of each organization. We will continue negotiating on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.
