Professional freight transport: Second round 3%

November 14 2023

The second collective labor agreement negotiation round for the Professional Freight Transport took place last Friday. De Unie has submitted and explained its letter of proposal. You will find our proposal letter here. As you can see, this one is almost literally the same as last year's. Unfortunately!

The agreement was that the collective labor agreement parties would work together on the Future Agenda in the course of 2023. It is very disappointing that almost nothing came of this.

Wage offer employers 3%

The employer side indicates that it has put a lot of energy into the preparation of the collective labor agreement negotiations and the development of a vision of the sector that is yet to be developed. The members of TLN have been consulted. If you expect that there will already be concrete proposals from the employers' side, then I have to disappoint you. Because once again no more than a few lines of thought have been discussed......
But the wage offer is concrete, namely 3%. Everything has become more expensive for employers, we are now in a recession and you had a reasonably high wage increase last year, crises upon crises and employers are therefore everything optimistic about the future.

De Unie wants purchasing power repair (if necessary), purchasing power maintenance (because you don't want to work and then lose out) and a modest wage improvement if the situation allows it. To achieve this we asked for 10%. The 3% offered is sufficient if you only go for purchasing power repair for 2023, but then you have nothing for 2024, no purchasing power maintenance and certainly no purchasing power improvement. We are just under 7% short here.

Waiting day

Last year we made it very clear that a waiting day for illness is no longer appropriate in this day and age and if you want to be an attractive employer and you seriously still have this provision in your collective labor agreement, you are making yourself very credible. Fortunately, employers have now also realized this. The waiting day disappears!

Pay scale A

Here all expire no steps and youth wages will no longer be applied to skilled employees.

Other proposals are still vague

Employers will still have to make this concrete, but I wonder when that will happen.

However, two new rounds have been recorded

Namely November 24 and December 8. But if they are as productive as the first two rounds, we will not have a collective labor agreement yet. Most proposals were rejected because they would be at the expense of wage space, according to TLN. Other proposals still need to be developed into a future new modern collective labor agreement. We then don't know what to expect. We are not sure about it.
