On July 4, 2023, asr completed the merger transaction with Aegon Nederland. This includes all activities of Aegon Netherlands in the field of insurance, pensions, mortgages, the distribution and service companies and the banking activities. All regulatory approvals have already been received. See also what has been said about this press release and my response to it NRC.
Jos Baeten and his team are on a tour of Aegon's locations. They started in The Hague on Monday with a number of Dutch and English-language employee sessions. They were then in Leeuwarden on Tuesday and will visit Knab bank on Thursday 6 July. The first reactions from the supporters are that these are good sessions. It is appreciated that they come by and provide clarity, even if it is not always the desired answer.
Aegon and AEN
Remainco employees have transferred to the new personnel entity Aegon Employee Netherlands BV (AEN) as of July 1, 2023. In terms of personnel administration, everything should now run smoothly. There are still a number of matters to be arranged, such as the structured consultation between HR AEN and the trade unions. The committees mentioned in the collective labor agreement and the social plan must be staffed again. There are still some collective agreements that need to be checked and of course the mutual acquaintance. Corporate Center's co-determination is not yet back to full strength and the future of Aegon (and AEN) also in terms of location is in any case on the consultation list. On the Capital Markets Day from June 22, 2023, it became clear in any case that Transamerica will be the spearhead in the future. In the press release from Aegon about the new supervision it is reported that Aegon will remain in the Netherlands and, as I understand it, is looking for a location on the axis of The Hague - Amsterdam. Whether this is in conjunction with Asset Management remains to be determined. After the summer period, a consultation will be organized between HR AEN and the trade unions and the points will be put on the agenda.
