In this message we inform you about the collective labor agreement negotiations, current affairs, the 2023 annual report and finally the check whether you still work at Aegon.
Whether or not a collective labor agreement and when?
Aegon prefers to agree on an employment conditions arrangement with the employee participation body and is discussing this with them. Aegon argues that because of the international population, they wonder whether the Dutch trade unions are (or can be) representative? Another argument mentioned by HR is that Aegon would like flexibility in terms of employment conditions. Aegon believes that it can achieve this better with employee participation than with the trade unions.
The participation has indicated that it needs more time to answer Aegon's question whether it wants to fulfill that role and it also wonders what exactly it entails?
Now that time is running out - the current collective labor agreement expires on July 1, 2024 - Aegon has expressed its intention to enter into discussions with us to extend the collective labor agreement by one year. Aegon needs until the summer to make internal decisions about this. In addition, a new HR compensation & benefits employee will soon start and two HR interim employees will retire. This means that Aegon's preparation takes place over the summer and will be released in September.
Aegon HR has informed employees about this and is also organizing an online walk-in session on Thursday, April 18, to answer any questions about the process regarding the collective labor agreement and to provide an explanation of the discussions with employee participation about Aegon's considerations. between a collective labor agreement and an employment conditions scheme. She also provides a brief update on the progress of the new mobility policy.
Trade organizations and HR will have a follow-up meeting on Monday, June 10, 2024, to get to know Bas Schoenmakers, the new HR C&B and the study agreements from the collective labor agreement. We would like to include the answer to the question of what the members think of Aegon's position?
Short updates
- The move to Schiphol on January 1, 2025 is going according to plan. Recently, 220 Aegon employees visited the new Schiphol location. The most important questions were where can you park and where will the desk be located?
- HR is discussing employee discounts with the employee participation body, such as discounts on car insurance, home insurance and mortgage discounts. These agreements run until July 1, 2024 and new agreements must be made with the Works Council and asr.
- The personnel transition to Bermuda will run until 2027. Two Aegon employees from the UK have been willing to make the transition to the new location.
- The month of trade unions takes place in September. More information about this will follow.
Annual report 2023 and what will 2024 bring?
The annual report states that Aegon has achieved all its financial ambitions for 2023 and that progress has also been made with non-financial ambitions. Furthermore, CEO Lard Friese states that 2023 was an important year in which Aegon took major steps forward and more will follow in 2024 as the transformation continues.
If the sale of Aegon Netherlands in 2023 was a big step, we are curious what will follow in 2024? How do members view it and what do they expect the future to bring?
