1e Consultation

On Wednesday, January 24, 2024, an initial meeting took place between HR AEN and the trade unions. In addition to getting to know each other, we also discussed a number of substantive matters. For example, Aegon's status within the Dutch Association of Insurers was discussed. With the acquisition of Aegon Netherlands by asr, Aegon (AEN) is no longer a member of the Dutch Association of Insurers, as it no longer conducts insurance activities in the Netherlands. This means that the collective labor agreement for Insurance Companies would not apply as an underlying collective labor agreement basis if AEN decides that it no longer wants a new collective labor agreement after the end of the current collective labor agreement. HR AEN is now considering the collective labor agreement and expects to be able to give us more clarity about it at the end of February. HR AEN considers it important that there is peace in the organization.

We still have a number of agreements from the current collective labor agreement to fulfill. One of these is a study into a new pension scheme, as this also expires at the end of 2024. Another is that another month of the union will be organized in the first half of 2024. So to be continued.

We also briefly discussed the status of the social plan in the context of the upcoming move from the building on Aegonplein to Schiphol WTC. It must be (legally) clear to the employees and Works Councils that it is applicable, since this social plan also expires on June 30, 2024. For example, a new objection committee can also be set up. HR AEN does not expect that much use will be made of the social plan when the move is made at the end of 2024.

On Monday, February 26, 2024, the parties will have a new appointment with each other to discuss further matters that have already been discussed (briefly). Then the members will of course receive a newsletter again.

Diversity

De Unie is part of the trade union VCP. In the polder, it consults with other trade unions, employers' associations and the cabinet, for example the SER and the Labor Foundation, to put matters on the policy agenda. One of the topics they work on is promoting diversity within organizations. Read about the current situation in the various sectors SER provides insight into gender balance in companies - VCP.

Informal care

Another topic they have worked on is the informal care inspiration document. Due to an aging population, shifting retirement ages and staff shortages in healthcare, more and more people are combining their work with informal care tasks. In total, a quarter of workers combine a job of 12 hours per week or more with providing informal care. You can read more information about practical stories, concrete tools and practical tips in the Inspirational document 'It works together!' | Labor Foundation (stvda.nl).
