November 08 2022

From 2 to 8 November, you and all your colleagues were able to assess the new collective labor agreement negotiation result. A large majority of your colleagues have said 'yes' to this negotiation result.

The executor of the referendum, research agency InnerVoice, has determined the following result:

Process

The fact that all VodafoneZiggo employees were allowed to vote is new. That is why it is so special that so many employees have done so immediately. We are used to the creation of collective labor agreements, in which only members of trade unions have a say in the content of the collective labor agreement. We approached this differently at VodafoneZiggo.

The collective bargaining table (joint trade unions and the employer) has commissioned research agency InnerVoice to conduct research into the preferences of employees at VodafoneZiggo with regard to their terms of employment. 10 panel sessions including your colleagues led to a questionnaire, which was distributed among all employees. In the end, 2804 colleagues took part in the study; a turnout of 40%. The investigation led to a clear report, so that we knew exactly what we had to negotiate with VodafoneZiggo. After the negotiations, it was up to all VodafoneZiggo employees to vote (by all employees, union member or not). During the previous referendum (May 2022) there appeared to be insufficient support for the negotiating result reached at the time read more here.

The main criticisms that emerged in the previous referendum (link to the new social plan and the proposed wage increase) have been discussed with VodafoneZiggo in new rounds of negotiations. In this phase, research agency InnerVoice also involved the employees through panel discussions, where input was provided for further negotiations. These negotiations recently led to a new negotiation result which has now been approved by the majority of the employees. Read more here.

How further?

It goes without saying that the parties to the collective labor agreement strive to gain support from the largest possible group of employees. Although the negotiation result can count on the support of a majority of the employees, it is also important to consider the concerns of the employees who could not agree with the result.

De Unie will sign the collective labor agreement with VodafoneZiggo as a result of the vote. In addition, it will be up to us, together with VodafoneZiggo, to carefully analyze the result of this referendum, as we did in the previous round, and to include it in the discussions starting today. In this context, many employees have taken the opportunity to provide their vote with an explanation.

It is and remains important that all employees continue to be involved in and maintain control over their employment conditions. We have already made clear agreements about this with VodafoneZiggo.
