From Monday 8 May and the days that followed, we held informal consultations with the management of VDL-Nedcar. This has again taken place after mediation by former minister Aart Jan de Geus.
The informal consultations that took place late into the evening on Wednesday 10 May have left the union leaders and the negotiating delegation of executives with a reasonably good feeling about continuing with a formal round of negotiations. That means that we have a reasonable amount of confidence that we can get 'somewhere'.
A formal consultation with your employer will take place as soon as possible. The executives of the negotiating delegation are also present. Because we are formally going back to the table, the current strikes must be formally suspended.
If we arrive at a negotiation result, we first present it to the members of the trade unions. The members with a Complete or Extra membership ultimately determine whether we have a deal or not. It is also possible that we will first work everything out properly and prepare the members' meetings.
