Motor vehicle and two-wheeler companies: ongoing collective labor agreement discussions

25 September 2023

This summer we informed the members about the upcoming discussions for the new collective labor agreement for Motor Vehicles and Two-Wheelers. The current collective labor agreement runs until October 31, 2023. Discussions for the new collective labor agreement period have now started.

New advocate

Peter Werger will take over the advocacy of Motor Vehicles and Two-Wheelers from his colleague Sjerp Holterman as of October 2023. They will largely do this ongoing negotiation process jointly. He will keep everyone informed of further collective labor agreement developments and will serve as a point of contact for questions and comments.

The ongoing negotiations

The first two conversations between the employer and the trade unions have now taken place.

These took place in an explanatory atmosphere, in which both the trade unions and the employers' delegation presented their commitment and ambitions for the collective labor agreement process. The proposal letter from De Unie can you here read. The input provided by the members has been included in this.

Important themes during the first discussions were wages and purchasing power retention, secondary conditions such as travel expenses and working from home, updating the wage structure, and the attractiveness of the sector.

Although the discussions have started constructively and there are partly overlapping ambitions between the employee and employer sides, we do not expect a short negotiation process based on the positions taken. We will of course keep everyone informed of further developments.

Input

Contact with the members is important, both before, during and after the collective labor agreement negotiation process. If you have any comments or recommendations regarding the above or based on the commitment letter, please let us know by contacting Peter Werger (advocate) via peter.werger@unie.nl
