Aegon: Report of periodic consultation April 8, 2021

April 21, 2021

On April 8, 2021 De Unie held periodic consultations with Aegon. In this periodic consultation we discuss current affairs and we work on the implementation of collective labor agreements. Some of the collective labor agreements are carried out in co-creative agile teams.

Individual salary increase

At Aegon, your individual salary increase is determined in the Perform & Develop process. De Unie has when this system is introduced that we will evaluate it after 2021. In preparation for this De Unie Aegon was asked to provide an analysis of the development of individual salaries. We discussed this analysis on April 8.

The assessment is in three categories: successful, improvement necessary and exceptional. In total you see that it is assessed as safe. Little use is made of the space to vary the individual salary increase.

The assessment exceptional is given somewhat more often to younger employees, age categories 25-30 and 30-35. However, if you compare it with the individual salary increase for 2019, you see that these age categories score slightly lower. This is especially the case with AegonNL and KNAB. You do not see this shift at TKP.

Week of the union

One week a year, Aegon brings the trade unions to the attention of employees. With this, Aegon wants to emphasize that the work of the trade unions is important to the company. Employees who join a trade union for the first time this week can declare their contribution from the first year to Aegon. De Unie organizes activities together with the other trade unions from Monday 17 to Thursday 20 May 2021.

Pilot unlimited leave

We have agreed to conduct a pilot to learn from the concept of unlimited leave. We are investigating whether unlimited leave contributes to increasing the employee's own control room. In this pilot, the employee determines in consultation with his supervisor how much leave he needs.

The preparation takes time, but the pilot is increasingly taking shape. There are system-technical and legal obstacles that forced us to adjust the ideas for the pilot. The plan is to run the pilot in the period from October 1, 2021 to October 1, 2022. A limited number of departments or teams are asked to participate in this. We do check in advance whether there is sufficient support to participate in the pilot. If the pilot is successful, this will become part of the collective labor agreement consultation.

Global Grading

The first phase of this project must be completed in September 2021. At the moment, the job descriptions for the reference jobs are being written. When the job description is ready, it is tested in a focus group among the employees who perform the job. This allows you to check yourself whether your position is described correctly. The focus groups will be held from April to July 2021.

The following job groups are now being prepared, for these groups a start will be made shortly on describing the jobs, in consultation with superiors and higher management:

  • Damage and Income
  • Crime scene
  • HR
  • Admin and Office services
  • Enviromental compliance audit
  • Legal & Compliance

The following groups are already further in the process. The job descriptions are ready. The focus groups will be held soon:

  • Mortgages
  • BOY
  • GTS
  • Cappital / Collective pension / Life Protection

Work code

Agreements have been made in the Aegon collective labor agreement for the benefit of flex workers at Aegon. We do this within the framework of the work code, an umbrella agreement between trade unions and employers in the financial sector with which we aim to treat the position of flex workers in an equivalent manner to the position of employees who have a permanent employment contract.

Aegon has set up an agency panel in which flex workers are given a voice. This is just one of the collective labor agreement results for flex workers.
