Aegon: report periodic consultation

January 07 2021

A number of agreements have been made in the CLA that must be worked out during the term of the CLA. This takes place in the periodic consultation and the various working groups that have been set up. The most important topics that have already been worked on in recent months are global grading and sustainable employability.

Global grading

Aegon is switching to a new job evaluation system. The Willis Towers Watson Global Grading System, which is used internationally by Aegon, has been chosen. Agreements have been made in the collective labor agreement to make the transition as smooth as possible. The current job descriptions are in some cases outdated. In the first part of the project, all functions are described again so that your current functions can be allocated to the correct function level. The current, well-known Hay system is used for this. To ensure that this process is carried out properly, you have a say at two points. De Unie finds it important that employees are properly involved, because placement in a lower job grade has major consequences for you.

In the preliminary phase, a survey is sent out to all employees. This survey allows you to identify the important characteristics of your job. You can also register for participation in a focus group. In such a focus group, the people who actually perform the job provide a description of their work and the importance of their job. This interview will be held with the job evaluation experts who will also describe the job. The input in the focus group is therefore used immediately.

The survey will soon be put on the intranet by Aegon. It is important that as many employees as possible complete the survey. The focus groups are organized in the spring. You will receive from De Unie message if you can sign up for it.

Sustainable employability

The details of the agreements on sustainable employability still need time. This is being worked on. Aegon is also part of the social agenda through the Dutch Association of Insurers, “Together on the road to broad employability”. De Unie is organizing three webinars together with the Association in the coming month in which you can participate for free. The first webinar has ended Monday, January 25 from 14.00 p.m. to 15.00 p.m. on the subject of digital fitness, you will find information about this and the possibility to register here.

Pilot unlimited leave

We discussed the unlimited leave pilot with Aegon. De Unie believes that a pilot should provide a good picture of reality. Finally, the intention is to base future policy on the results of the pilot. That is why we advocated postponing the unlimited leave pilot. As it looks now, the trials with this will start in the autumn of 2021.

Reorganisations

Aegon is preparing reorganisations to reduce costs. De Unie is regularly updated about this. Is your department involved in a reorganization? Please contact us if you have any questions.
