Aegon: Merging with asr

In this message we inform you about the progress of the merger of the employment conditions of Aegon and asr. And we can already report that we are approaching the end. It has to be, because the moment of closing on July 1, 2023 is fast approaching.

Jos van Baeten came by to tell us about the integration and the origin of the 185 million synergy benefits. His story can also largely be found in his recent presentation to the shareholders. Click here for his given state of affairs (from minute 18.25).

Then it was about staff discounts, insurance, expenses, incapacity for work and vitality. Both Aegon and asr have employee discount schemes, expense schemes and schemes relating to disability and vitality. The analysis shows that many of these schemes are equivalent. Due to the differences in the regulations with regard to mortgage interest discounts and disability insurance, there are transitional measures.

Arjan van der Pol (Aegon) and Monique Groen (asr) explained to us the arrangements for continued payment of wages in the event of illness, WIA Excedent, WGA and WIA supplements on the basis of a number of 'reference people'. The differences are minimal or non-existent, and where there are, a suitable solution will be found.

With that we have had all clusters of employment conditions subjects and it was time to go through a comparative overview of everything for correctness and completeness. With this overview we have to make the decisions. The trade unions and employee participation bodies have promised to prepare this together on the morning of 6 June.

The trade unions and employee participation bodies have gone through all points of employment conditions (approximately 80) in order to arrive at a response to employers on the total package. We have subsequently agreed with employers on most points (about 70) or there are still some questions for information. For the upcoming round on Friday, June 16, 2023, the remaining 10 points are to be decided. Then you should think of, among other things, the employee pension premium, jubilee payment, scheme for sustainable working, plus/minus hours, vitality budget, future social plan. The intention is to have the 16e agreement on this, but not before we have included the employees in this.

To give you some insight into the most important components of the total package, Aegon, trade unions and employee participation are organizing two information sessions on Thursday the 15e next June. We are organizing it now and soon members will receive more information about it.
