Aegon: Periodic consultation

October 18, 2021

Thursday 14 October 2021 has De Unie had periodic consultations with Aegon. In these periodic consultations, trade unions, HR and the Central Works Council discuss current affairs and we work on the implementation of collective labor agreements. More about that below. Furthermore, there is a new representative of De Unie and get his contact details.

Periodic consultations

Not a full agenda this time, so there was plenty of time for the topics to be discussed.

External retraining programs

Miranda Nijhuis, sustainable employability advisor at Aegon and Radboud van Hal, director of the Human Capital Group have proposed expanding the existing three sectors (education, construction and technology) for external retraining programs with ICT and public administration. This was agreed.

Research by the Research Center for Education and the Labor Market (ROA), the Dutch Association of Insurers and Aegon revealed that ICT and 'public administration' are promising sectors for the type of employee who works for insurers / Aegon. These sectors have jobs that are accessible to Aegon employees through a relatively short retraining. Aegon employees have a preference for clear / no multi-year retraining programs.

Employability in pictures

Miranda Nijhuis updated us about the 'Employability in the picture' campaign. The aim of the campaign is to increase awareness of employability and awareness. The campaign activities are organized in close collaboration with the communication department. All MTs of Aegon are visited. They receive a presentation about the employability toolkit and their role in it. Recently an activity with Mark Tuitert in the 'week of happiness at work' was a big attraction with 600 participants. The activities for Q4 and Q1 2022 are ready and still to come!

Work code

In the Aegon collective labor agreement, agreements have been made in the context of the work code for the benefit of flex workers at Aegon. Aegon has entered into a number of flex agreements, such as setting up a panel of temporary workers, increasing the labor market value of temporary workers and applying good commissioning practices when purchasing facility services. Aegon will take up a number of outstanding collective labor agreements regarding flex in the first half of 2022.
