Negotiations about the collective labor agreement for garden seed companies have stalled

March 17 2021

Negotiations about the collective labor agreement for garden seed companies have stalled. Employee organizations are united:

  • wage bid 1,5% too low for this well-performing sector and
  • unacceptable not to implement the Pension Agreement!

On Monday 1 March employee organizations negotiated for the fifth time about a new collective agreement for garden seed companies. Unfortunately still without result and we have had to conclude that we have concluded negotiations. The employers have taken a small step and have withdrawn most of their proposals for a “window” collective bargaining agreement for the time being.

Employee organizations have also provided two guidelines:

  • The wage requirement has now been unanimously set at 4% (was 5% for colleague unions).
  • An 80-90-100 scheme can be taken off the table in exchange for an RVU appointment and leave savings.

Unfortunately, this gesture has not yielded anything and we are back to square one, because we are still discussing the implementation of the Pension Agreement at central level. This brings the negotiations to a standstill. We therefore ask you by signing a petition to support our demands:

Sign the petition for a good Collective Labor Agreement for Garden Seed Companies!

The revenues and profits in the garden seed industry are still good, but employees hardly benefit from this. We therefore find the employers' wage offer of 1,5% much too low. Employers do not seem willing to agree on a collective labor agreement that does justice to our commitment and with which you can reach retirement age in a healthy way.

The closing date of the petition is Monday, April 5, 2021.

What do we want to achieve in the collective labor agreement?

  • A pay raise in line with the economic growth in the sector. Employers' offer of 1,5% is far too low and far from the wage demand of 4% by unions.
  • Implementation of the pension agreement. With agreements for younger and older employees about Sustainable Employability, leave saving (can be used at any stage of life). And the possibility to retire earlier for employees who were overburdened in the past.

We call on Plantum and its affiliated employers in the Garden Seed Industry to discuss this with the trade unions!

The world is made up of members and potential members.

A membership of De Unie . . .

. . . has not only benefits but is also of great size importance. In order not only to maintain the quality of the collective labor agreement for the Garden Seed Companies, but also to improve it, we must make every effort. That does not happen automatically and legal expenses insurance is not at the negotiating table. You know. But does your colleague know that too?
