Garden seeds: Result of collective labor agreement voting

February 20 2024

We have counted the votes cast for the collective labor agreement. The number of votes cast was woefully low. Perhaps this has to do with holidays, or making it difficult to choose whether to vote for or against. The result is that a very small majority, less than 1% of our members, is in favor of the agreement.

how are you De Unie deal with this now?

Formally we may have a yes, but the question is how much value you should and may attach to this. In these cases we ask our board what to do about it. Especially if we compare our number of votes with the massive votes cast by the other unions. Then the question is whether we should sign this collective labor agreement now.

This took a little longer due to holidays and crowds, apologies for this. We have decided internally that we will first take a step back.

What now?

The other unions have been given a clear no. They are now discussing with their members how they want to deal with this. As usual in these types of cases, we want to give the other unions some space to ask their members what they want and how they want to achieve this. It could therefore be that there will be actions from the other unions. We will wait for this and get back to you with the position De Unie will take in this.

The question is how long this will all take and perhaps it mainly depends on the attitude of the employers. If there is such massive opposition from employees in the sector, something is definitely going on. Hopefully employers will also realize this and start meeting the trade unions. We are all waiting anxiously.
