This result means that there is majority support for the negotiation result and as a result, the collective labor agreement negotiation result can be converted by The Union into a new collective labor agreement.

Process

The fact that all employees in Technical Wholesale were allowed to cast their votes is no longer new. Most people are now used to this at Technical Wholesale all employees can participate in discussions and help decide on the content of the collective labor agreement. As in previous collective labor agreement discussions, we use our DigiC model (https://www.digic.nl/).

De Unie and the Employers Technical Wholesale (WTG) commissioned research agency InnerVoice in November 2023 to test whether the extensive collective labor agreement research from November 2022 was still up to date and therefore useful. We did this by holding 6 panel discussions/meetings with representative groups of employees.

The collective labor agreement study of November 2022, supplemented with the results of the panel discussions, ensured that we knew exactly what we had to negotiate with the WTG and what our negotiating space was.

The negotiations were somewhat 'different' than usual.

First, we received a final offer from the WTG on December 21, 2023, which was suddenly withdrawn by the WTG the day before we were to put it to the vote.

The discussions and negotiations with the WTG were subsequently restarted and led to a negotiation result on February 22, 2024..

How further?

Naturally, the collective labor agreement parties strive to find support from the largest possible group of employees. Although the negotiation outcome has the support of a large majority of employees, it is also important to consider the concerns of employees who could not agree with the outcome.

De Unie as mentioned, will sign the collective labor agreement.

In addition, it will be up to us in the near future to carefully analyze the outcome of this referendum together with the WTG and to include it in the periodic discussions. Many employees have taken the opportunity to provide an explanation for their vote. It is and remains important that all employees continue to be involved in and retain control over their employment conditions.
