SABIC IP – SHPP: Cao 2023 – round III

December 16 2022

Round III of the negotiations for the collective labor agreement 13 took place on Tuesday 2023 December. The opening bid of Sabic IP/SHPP was already known one round earlier: 3%. In addition, the new salary scales will be introduced. This will work out 0,6% more expensive for the employer.

Informal efforts and the “umwelt”

In between the formal negotiations, an informal attempt had been made to explain our mutual starting points:

  • the current labor market;
  • the mean collectively agreed contractual wage increases in the Netherlands:
    – September 3,4%
    – October 4,7%
    – November 6,4%
  • employer gave us an idea of the business economic perspective.

All this against a background in which Functional Forms will be sold and there are plans to move the European Head Office globally 200 kilometers to the Northwest. So there is money for 3 new office locations, while the "old office" is only in 2006. One mailbox in Amsterdam could also suffice.

Of course that doesn't work

Workers' organizations have therefore proposed to continue negotiations in January (2023). How will inflation develop? Will there be a mandate for an improved bid? Negotiations could possibly lead to “industrial action” at this point.

A bimonthly meeting is already planned for January 26, 2023. Instead, we will then negotiate for Round IV. The coming days offer space for contemplation, reflection, insight and wisdom.
