NN: Periodic consultation report 7 June 2023

June 12, 2023

In June 2023, we are mainly busy preparing the collective labor agreement negotiations. But more is happening, on June 7, there was periodic consultation with NN and on June 13, we have the first consultation with the NN-CDC pension fund about the future of the fund.

Preparation of collective bargaining consultations

The current collective labor agreement expires on December 31, 2023. This seems to be a long time coming, but there is still a long summer period ahead. De Unie would like to use the month of June to prepare the collective bargaining negotiations with the members.

Three online member meetings have been scheduled for this purpose. The members have received an invitation and have the opportunity to discuss with other members what they consider important for the NN CLA 2024, which salary question we should start with and how we can jointly achieve a good CLA result.

Periodic consultation agenda 7 June 2023

The following topics were on the agenda:

  • Reorganisations
  • RVU Threshold Exemption
  • Job evaluation
  • Strategic workforce planning

Strategic workforce planning
NN has conducted internal research into strategic personnel planning. This survey focused on the question of how the company will develop over the next two years and what the consequences will be for employees. The organization has drawn conclusions and policy programs are now being rolled out to include employees in these developments. The conclusions are diverse, NN is a large company with diverse activities. The broad line, however, is that automation and digitization are expected to continue. Training plans are set up to offer employees concerned further training in order to keep up with developments in the current position. The pilot that we agreed earlier in the collective labor agreement to investigate how employees can be moved from shrinking positions to growth positions fits in well with this.

Job evaluation
The relevance and satisfaction survey asked about the opinion of the job evaluation system. A striking number of people have indicated that their position is classified too low. In view of the large number, I have made agreements with NN about the treatment of this subject. For this it is necessary that I can indicate to NN which functions have this problem. That is why I will approach the members/employees who have indicated that their position has been classified too low.

RVU Threshold Control
The RVU is a temporary scheme that enables employers to give employees who take early retirement an amount of up to three times the AOW amount. Until a few years ago, employers had to pay a tax fine because the government wanted to encourage people to work longer. This tax penalty has been temporarily lifted, provided that the compensation does not exceed the amount set by the government. NN has now formalized that employees can use the RVU Threshold Scheme, which is good for employees in this age group. De Unie warned that this should not replace the voluntary severance scheme, which has a wider target group.

Reorganisations
NN is implementing various reorganisations. The reorganization does not have to lead to redundancies, there are various internal options for reassignment. But it is of course a troubled time for the approximately 100 employees of Business Insurance and of Pension and Life who are in the scope of the reorganisations. Are you dealing with a reorganization and are you a member of De Unie? Then contact the Service Center of De Unie. Our specialists are ready for you.
