We are still early in the negotiations. No concrete agreements have been made yet. However, it becomes clearer for each topic where there is room for parties to come closer together.

Structural salary increase

The employer proposes a salary increase of 4% as of July 1, 2024. De Unie believes that the salary increase should be granted as of January 1, 2024. And we believe that this salary increase does not do justice to NN employees. The position of De Unie is that high inflation in the second half of 2022 must be taken into account. NN employees then suffered a significant loss of purchasing power.

The employer is very reluctant to look back at the 2021-2023 collective labor agreement, but it was no longer a hard “no”. The employer points out that salaries at NN are relatively high and that the purchasing power effects are not the same for everyone.

Social plan

The social plan runs until December 31, 2023. De Unie has proposed to extend the social plan unchanged. Reorganizations are being prepared in which many employees are involved. We believe that a major change in the social plan will cause unrest, especially among employees in the reorganization area. NN has made it clear that new agreements on the social plan are an important priority for them. NN believes the level of the social plan is too high compared to other insurers. The employer has decided to adjust a large number of articles of the social plan, for example the severance payment, the travel time criterion and the placement policy. These topics will be on the agenda at the next meeting.

De Unie would like to discuss this topic with the members. That is why we are organizing an online members meeting on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from 16.00:17.00 PM to XNUMX:XNUMX PM. Do you think the social plan is an important employment condition? Do you have colleagues who also want to discuss the social plan? Then ask them to join too.

Vitality

We had a good conversation about vitality leave. It is a new employment condition that employees are happy with. De Unie wants to make some improvements.

Two examples of possible improvements:

  1. Not everyone can take two months of consecutive leave. A possible solution is to allow more flexibility. While retaining the purpose of the vitality scheme; take a break from work to gain new energy.
  2. In some teams, taking vitality leave leads to extra workload for colleagues. NN can prevent this by also taking into account the average percentage of use of vitality leave when determining the required FTE per department.

We also discussed topics such as generational leave (80-90-100 scheme) and leave savings. The employer is not negative about this, but does want to look at it in relation to other proposals that concern older employees. It has been agreed that NN will make a proposal in the next consultation.

Agenda

De Unie is organizing a members meeting about the social plan on October 18, 2023. This is our preparation for the collective labor agreement negotiations of October 31, 2023, when we will mainly discuss the social plan. The members have received an invitation to participate in the online meeting.

Other topics we will discuss on October 31 are: salary, vitality and sustainable employability.
