The first day of negotiations for the new ABNAMRO collective labor agreement is over and the bank still does not want to talk about a wage increase.

The current collective labor agreement has a term of six months and ends on 1 July. We really wanted to conclude a new collective labor agreement for you before then, but the bank is in no hurry for an unclear reason. Finally, the first round of negotiations took place this week.

The couch

The bank starts the consultation with an explanation of the current developments at the bank. To our disappointment, the bank has not made any proposals for the new collective labor agreement. The bank refers to the agreement of the previous collective labor agreement, which states that the bank wants to talk about a structural wage increase after 1 July. The bank has now indicated that it will not make any promises or wish to discuss this agreement on the wage increase.

De Unie

Our members have indicated that salary increases are the most important topic. We discussed this with the bank in further consultation. We believe that the current inflation and developments in the Netherlands and the world indicate that this is a special situation. High energy prices, high workload, insufficient staff, war in Ukraine and prolonged and high inflation. This calls for more certainty for employees and not for waiting any longer with an interview.

Continuation

We expected much more from this first meeting. It's almost July 1st. And after all, it is customary to get started before the end of the term and then be well on the way with agreements for a new collective labor agreement. We have informed the bank of our disappointment about this. What do you think of the bank's attitude?
