We have reached an agreement with employers on the outlines of the new Metal and Technology pension scheme.
Since June 2023, we have intensively consulted with employers about the new pension scheme in the Metal and Technology industry. This is necessary because we are switching to a new pension system in the Future Pensions Act. Agreement has been reached on the main points.
Not yet final
We're not done yet. A transition plan must be drawn up for the transition to the new scheme. We have already seen many figures and been able to make our provisional choices. But all components must be calculated in conjunction with each other and we must be able to demonstrate that the decisions of collective labor agreements have a balanced outcome for all groups of participants.

But we have established the main points that must be elaborated in the transition plan. Only when that is done can we talk about an agreement on the new arrangement. And only then can we submit the result to you for approval. Because we want to be able to consult you about the whole picture. Now that we have agreed on the main points, we hope that we will be ready for the member consultation in January or early February.

Anyone who is interested can here read the text. What are the most important points?
- Choice of contract: Solidarity Pension Scheme. This preserves collectivity and solidarity.
- Ambition: expected pension results in the new scheme are at least equal to the current scheme.
- Chances of pension increases improve.
- The chance of benefit reduction decreases (the solidarity reserve works!).
- Good agreements about survivor's pension.
- Priority for compensation for groups that suffer from the abolition of the average accrual.
How further?
We will keep you informed of what happens next. If the main points are developed quickly, we can organize the member consultation in early 2024. Ultimately, members with a Complete membership have the final say!
