First offer Canon below par

Canon has put on the table a 3,4% offer for a term of 1 year during the second round of negotiations. We as unions have rejected this offer because in our view it is much too meager.

Structural salary increase

Canon proposes a collective labor agreement that runs from January 1, 2023 to January 1, 2024.
As of February 1, 2023 are they prepared for a wage increase of 3,75% to give. On an annual basis, this amounts to 3,4%. We have pointed out to the employer the negotiated result achieved in the Metalektro: a wage increase of 5,5% as of December 1, 2022 and a €60 discount on the employee's pension contribution is on the table. We believe that Canon's first proposal does not do justice to the commitment of the employees. Canon should face its staff in these difficult financial times.

Collective Labor Agreement negotiations round III

Canon will present a new proposal at the next round of negotiations (Monday 14 November).

Opinion requested

We are of course curious about the reactions. What do you think of Canon's offer? Let the advocate John Kapteijn know via john.kapteijn@unie.nl

It should be clear that this year all wage space will be in the structural increase in wages and paid salaries. Canon and the unions have agreed that this year we will have to focus on that. This in connection with the sky-high inflation that everyone has to deal with. Canon has also previously announced that it sees the new collective labor agreement as a transitional collective agreement. The company wants to investigate the possibility of splitting the Canon collective labor agreement. CNL has expressed its intention to switch to the Collective Labor Agreement for the Information, Communication and Office Technology Industry (ICK Collective Labor Agreement). CPPN would then hold its own collective labor agreement. The company wants this because the activities of the two companies are very different from each other.

We will keep members informed.
