ING collective agreement negotiations in final phase

Negotiations on the new ING CLA are entering their final phase. A proposal has been put forward on behalf of ING management, which the delegation believes is the last step they can take. ING has made it clear to us that there is nothing more to be gained from further negotiations. De Unie must now decide how to proceed.  Do we engage in talks within the framework set out by ING management, or do we conclude that the ING CLA cannot be achieved without some disruption?.

Letter of proposals from De Unie

First, let’s recall what De Unie proposed.

  • One-year CLA with the option for a two-year CLA
  • Purchasing power adjustment for 11% as at 1 January 2025
  • Structural pay rise of 5% with effect from 1 July 2025
  • We offered the option to pay for part of the purchasing power repair in the form of a percentage profit-sharing scheme.
  • And because the increase in pay scale (the April adjustment) at ING is extremely low compared to other financial companies, we proposed to significantly improve it. At ING, it takes over 20 years to progress from the minimum to the maximum pay scale.

Latest employer proposal

By mutual agreement with ING management, the most feasible course of action is as follows:

  • A two-year CLA period
  • No purchasing power adjustment
  • Structural pay rise of 5.25% with effect from 1 July 2025

Structural pay rise of 3.25% with effect from 1 July 2026

One-off payment of €1,500.00 gross on 1 January 2025

  • No profit-sharing scheme
  • In scale, remuneration is converted to Pay for Growth at an average rate of 2%. It will take you almost as long to reach the scale maximum.

Agreements can also be reached on a number of smaller issues. We will be happy to explain these in a future post.

Conclusion

The gap between what De Unie has proposed and what ING management wishes to offer remains wide. We have made this clear here. It makes no sense to try to take further small steps in the negotiations. De Unie therefore wishes to discuss with its members how to proceed.
