The aim of this process was to build mutual trust and to gain a thorough understanding of each other’s interests and room for manoeuvre. Discussions also covered communication and the way in which the negotiations are conducted. This trust and an understanding of each other’s “language” are essential for achieving constructive collective agreement negotiations. De Unie stated at the outset that, once the mediation was over, we would decide whether we could resume the collective agreement negotiations.
The talks have taken place in a constructive and valuable manner over the past period and have created an understanding on both sides for each other's positions, as well as offering new insights. Both the trade unions and Signify have explicitly stated that they want to commit themselves fully to a new collective labour agreement at Signify.
The mediation has ensured that the mutual relationship has been restored and with that the mediation has ended.
The parties have decided to enter into discussions following the publication of the financial results for the first quarter of 2024 in May, in order to determine what that information means for a potential collective labour agreement outcome.
