On Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 October 2025, the five trade unions involved in the collective agreement negotiations with Sabic Limburg BV held consultations with their members. At these meetings, the employer’s final offer regarding the new collective agreement at Sabic Geleen was put to a vote by members of the FNV and De Unie. During these consultations and the accompanying online votes organised by CNV and Synergo VHP, members of four trade unions rejected the management’s final offer by a large majority. Members of ABW can still vote until 3 December this year. The result for ABW will therefore not be known until then.

In particular, the proposals regarding Article 21, paragraph 8, and the proposed inclusion of scales C40 up to and including C41 in the Global Salary Planning Tool (SPT) were labelled as unacceptable by the members.

The unions that concluded the voting have informed the management of Sabic Geleen of the results of the member consultations on the final offer. In doing so, the unions indicated that they would like to discuss the resulting situation with the management in order to jointly investigate what is needed to arrive at a result acceptable to the members in the collective labour agreement negotiations.
Social plan
Meanwhile, negotiations regarding a social plan are continuing as normal. On Thursday 6 November we will be discussing this further with the management of Sabic. As we explained during the member consultations, as unions we are aiming for one good social plan that treats all colleagues at Sabic equally. In addition, we have indicated to the management that we would like to agree such a plan for a somewhat longer term. After all, the unrest surrounding Chemelot and also Sabic calls for clarity and security where possible for the colleagues at Sabic.
We will, of course, keep you informed of developments regarding the collective labour agreement and social plan.
