Over the past few weeks, voting has taken place on the negotiated outcome for the new social plan at Achmea. The voting period has now ended and the result is known. In this newsletter, we will inform you about this.

WORD LID

The result

The good news is that virtually everyone who cast their vote (well over 98%) approved the outcome of the negotiations. The result was also very positive among our fellow trade unions. This means the new social plan is now officially in place.

Security and support

With this new social plan, employees have clarity and security for the next four and a half years. Security about what will happen if they lose their job due to a reorganisation.

Should you find yourself in such a situation, you can rest assured that De Unie provides its members with a Full Membership with advice and support. If you upgrade your membership to a Full Membership, you’ll be able to make use of legal support and guidance free of charge – in addition to all the other benefits.

Good to know: the subscription fee you pay can be settled in a tax-friendly way via Achmea (HR-online). More information can be found at: https://www.unie.nl/lidmaatschap

Pension warning

Over recent months, we have regularly informed you about the potential consequences of terminating your employment before the intended Future Pensions Act (Wtp) transition date. This concerns potentially missing out on the compensation for the flat-rate contribution. This can amount to several tens of thousands of euros. Therefore, we have made agreements regarding this with Achmea.

However, please realise that you may also miss out on this compensation if you resign yourself before the transition date, for example because you have found another job. Are you considering resigning before the transition date? Then please contact us first and seek advice from one of our pension experts, so that you do not face an unpleasant financial surprise later on. Just make sure you convert your membership to a Complete membership first!

What next?

Although we are pleased with the result achieved, the negotiations were not straightforward. That is precisely why it is good that so many staff members are members of De Unie. Not only to ensure we have a strong collective position at the negotiating table, but also to be assured of sound (legal) support when needed.

Achmea is constantly evolving. There will be many changes and reorganisations over the coming years. Membership of a modern and contemporary trade union like De Unie is therefore really a no-brainer. Why not have a chat about this with colleagues who aren’t yet members? You can find more information on our website: https://www.unie.nl/bedrijven-en-cao/achmea.

Thanks

Over the coming weeks, the negotiation result will be further elaborated into the final text of the social plan. I would like to thank everyone for their support, involvement and the many responses. We have achieved this result together, and we can be genuinely proud of that.

Why join?

Do you ever consider joining a trade union? There are quite a few good reasons for it, you see. Naturally, we negotiate your collective labour agreement, social plan and your pension scheme. But did you know that we also support you, legally and otherwise, if things aren't going so well at work? And of course, members can always make use of our service centre, for all their questions about work and income.

And one more general appeal

The trade union federation for professionals, the VCP, has launched a petition to protest against this government’s austerity plans for social security. De Unie is a member of the VCP. You can support this protest by this online petition to draw.
