De Unie is very active in the chemical sector. We are involved in consultations about employment conditions in hundreds of different companies. We are also party to a number of national collective labor agreements (prepared paint and printing ink industry, paper industry, plastics and rubber industry) and a large number of corporate collective labor agreements (AKZO Nobel, DSM). By providing differentiation and customization, we try to take into account the diverse nature of the sector when forming terms of employment. We believe that sufficient options should be built in not only per company or industry, but also per individual.
Total employment in the chemical sector is likely to rise to around 100.000 in the coming years. Most of the employees in the sector are highly educated. In the future, more and more will be expected of them due to further technological developments.
