Before you sign a new contract, it’s a good idea to take a close look at your terms and conditions of employment. That way, you’ll know exactly where you stand throughout your employment. And you won’t be faced with any surprises if, for example, you want to take leave, change jobs or find yourself in a labour dispute. The employment law specialists at De Unie would be happy to go through the contract with you.
Your employment conditions under scrutiny
Our specialists will check the content of your contract. They will check, among other things, whether:
- the contract according to the law is;
- your salary, holiday entitlement, pension and sick leave arrangement are clear;
- there are no provisions in it that are unfavourable to you, such as an overly strict non-compete clause.
You'll hear from us as soon as possible regarding our thoughts on the contract and what you should do: sign it or negotiate with your future employer first. In the latter case, we will, of course, advise you on how to approach such a discussion effectively.
Non-compete clause
This is a clause that sets out the rules you must adhere to when changing jobs. Consider the period after your employment during which you are not allowed to work for a competitor, or that you are not immediately allowed to perform the same work for another company. If you do this, you may receive a penalty from your (ex-)employer.
Sometimes, non-compete clauses are too strict and limit your opportunities on the job market. Curious what the non-compete clause means in your case? Our experts are happy to check it for you.
