The social partners have been negotiating a new collective labor agreement for several months, but unfortunately without result. CLA negotiations

Our external process supervisor has challenged both trade unions and employers to go to extremes to achieve a negotiated result. Trade unions have implemented this by giving employers two contract options, one for 18 months and one for 24 months.

For the 18-month option, we asked 4,0% as of January 1, 2023 and 3,5% as of October 1, 2023. In addition, we requested a one-off payment on October 1, 2022 of 1.250 euros gross per person and another of 750, - euros gross per person on October 1, 2023.

With the contract for 24 months, we asked 4,5% as of January 1, 2023 and 4,5% as of January 1, 2024 and a one-off amount of 1.250 euros gross per person as of October 1, 2022.

Because we receive signals that employees are getting into trouble, we have asked every health insurer to provide a social fund for everyone who is now in financial trouble and will be.

Employers also had two 18- and 24-month contract options. For the 18-month contract, they offered a structural salary increase of 3,75% as of October 1, 2022 and 1,3% as of October 1, 2023. In addition, they offered a one-off payment of 400,- gross pro rata of the employment as of October 1, 2022. .

With the 24-month contract, they offered 4% as of October 1, 2022 and 2,75% as of October 1, 2023 and a one-off payment of EUR 600 gross pro rata of the employment as of October 1, 2022.

To our disappointment, we jointly concluded that the gap was too big to reach a negotiated result. Employers then decided to make a final offer on wages and all other matters that were on the negotiating table from trade unions.

At the popular request of our supporters, we have asked employers to provide more text and explanation of their views and motivation. Employers took this to heart and are addressing it.

Continuation

The follow-up is that in the first week of October the employers will make a final offer containing all matters that they want to include in the new collective labor agreement. I, representative Emanuel Geurts, will submit this final offer to you for a vote. Depending on the outcome of the vote, there may or may not be a new collective labor agreement. Since the current collective labor agreement has not been terminated, it will continue unchanged from 1 October 2022.

What do you think?

Thank you for the tremendous response to the previous rounds of negotiations. It helps me a lot to be able to put your stories, experiences, arguments and motives on the table sometimes literally (anonymously). Make this clear within your organization by talking about it with each other. There are more colleagues who think like you than you might suspect. Even now I am curious about your opinion on the situation that has arisen. Let me know at emanuel.geurts@unie.nl. Thanks in advance!
