Insurance companies: Negotiations on collective labor agreement suspended

December 09 2021

Tuesday, December 7, 2021 was the sixth round of negotiations between De Unie, the other trade unions and the employer's delegation of the insurers about a new collective labor agreement as of 1 January 2022. After the new disappointing offer from employers, we have suspended the negotiations. Trade unions are now first going back to the grassroots. Read more about that below.

Employers bid

  • Their previously made offer of structural wage increases of 1,7% as of 12-2022 and 1,7% as of 1-1-2023 has not been adjusted by them, except that they additionally give a one-off wage increase of 1% as of 1/7/2022 ;
  • They maintain their position that a two-year collective labor agreement is necessary for the large amount of work that still has to be done;
  • The 3e they do not want to extend the year under the Unemployment Insurance Act (PAWW). Remarkable in view of the fact that the premium has been reduced and that this premium is fully borne by the employee himself;
  • They see no problem in the current situation regarding time and place-independent working (TPOW) and therefore do not want to make agreements about this;
  • Finally, employers are bound to the Work Code via the sector collective labor agreement, but they leave its implementation to the individual employers and employee participation bodies without any control or compliance.

Trade unions

Trade unions have indicated to employers that they are suspending consultations and have asked employers to reconsider their positions. Our stated arguments in this regard are:

  • The rising inflation (CBS Nov. 5,2%) only widens the gap in wages over time.
  • Employees pay it 3e years of unemployment benefits and they ask for an extension. Participation was decided at the table of the Labor Foundation by employers' organizations and the trade union federation. We will not decide otherwise in the sector collective labor agreement. Stopping now would be the destruction of capital of the accrued rights of current employees. Then they lose that;
  • Trade unions have abandoned the wish to set hard parameters, but do attach great importance to the facilitating role in the collective labor agreement for parties that do not (yet) have their affairs in order;
  • Work code is part of the Collective Labor Agreement for Insurance Companies. You do not arrange the follow-up locally, but centrally, because otherwise there would no longer be a sector
  • broad agreement.

Trade unions are going back to their members to discuss the current situation. In mid-January we will return to the consultation with the proceeds.

constituency consultation

The trade unions are organizing three joint online employee meetings at three different times. The meetings are led alternately by trade union officials and executives De Unie, FNV Finance and CNV Vakmensen.

  • Wednesday, December 15 from 09.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m
  • Thursday, December 16 from 15.00 p.m. to 16.00 p.m
  • Thursday, December 16 from 19.30 p.m. to 20.30 p.m

We invite you to participate in one of these three member meetings and give your feedback on the state of affairs. This can be done at the meeting and, of course, afterwards, preferably by e-mail.
