Vakbondand close a deal with Tata Steel

In the evening and night from 2 to 3 July 2020 De Unie together with the colleaguevakbondand signed a deal with Tata Steel Netherlands, to which Tata Steel Europe has also approved.

Maximum brought in
We take off our caps and bow deeply to you and your colleagues who have shown an unprecedented willingness to take action. Under that pressure everything has become liquid.

All requirements that Tata Steel Netherlands deals with have been achieved as much as possible. The Employment Pact will be extended unchanged until October 1, 2026. There will be no separate social plan because any reductions in jobs will take place through natural attrition or voluntary departure. The Generation Pact has been extended until January 1, 2025. The governance structure will not change. There will be a strategic plan for Tata Steel Netherlands in which concrete attention is paid to sustainability, future-proofing, profitability and the impact on climate and environment.

Dutch vakbondand in direct conversation with Tata Steel Europe
In the coming period, until September 1, 2020, we will make agreements with Tata Steel Europe about the structure in which Tata Steel Netherlands and IJmuiden will operate and what that means for the integrated site IJmuiden. Because this is a file that is on the plate of Tata Steel Europe De Unie believe that we should also discuss that on that table. Our requirements regarding the maintenance of the integrated value chain of the IJmuiden site are therefore still proud.

Members' meeting and final protocol
The text has yet to be put into a final protocol. Once that is done, you will be given the opportunity to vote on the protocol. Despite the holiday period, we will also organize a digital members' meeting in which you and your Unie colleagues can ask questions about the course you have completed and the result. An invitation to do so follows with the sending of the protocol. In addition, further explanation will be given about exactly what we have agreed.

Again, great that we have worked well together. Together we have made the future of your work and that of the whole of Tata Steel Netherlands a lot safer and safer. See you soon.

We wish everyone a nice summer holiday. Now is a good time to take a break from your work.

Yours faithfully,
De Unienegotiation delegation
