Rabobank: Report on collective labor agreement negotiations

On March 17 and 18, 2022 De Unie collective labor agreement negotiations with Rabobank. We had agreed in advance that we would mainly talk about pensions these days. We wanted to see if it is possible to reach agreement on this important issue.

Retirement

We got the 17de only talking about retirement. On this day, the trade unions on the one hand and Rabobank on the other set out their principles. on the 18de we listened carefully to each other and tried to find the points in the pension file on which we agree.

We all believe that Rabobank should have a good pension scheme for its employees. All parties are prepared to agree on a defined contribution scheme, which will be implemented by the Rabobank Pension Fund. We all know that the new pension scheme will also cost a lot of money. It looks like we're almost there, but we're not. When designing a pension plan, you have to agree on many variables.

In addition, we also have to make agreements about the survivor's pension and about continued payment of wages and waiver of premium in the event of incapacity for work.

Other subjects

We talked about the structural salary increase. And the trade unions have identified the subjects that are conditional in order to be able to conclude a negotiation agreement. In this context, De Unie gave a presentation with examples of 80/90/100 schemes and voluntary early retirement schemes (RVU) in the financial sector. These are: ABN-AMRO, ING, DNB, Aegon, NN Group, Achmea, asr, Geldmaat, sector collective labor agreement Banks, sector collective labor agreement Insurance, sector collective labor agreement Health insurers.

All these collective agreements state:

  • or any version of the 80/90/100 control
  • or a version of the voluntary early retirement scheme
  • or both schemes.

Topics Rabobank

Rabobank has also indicated which subjects they wish to regulate in the collective labor agreement. Among other things, Rabobank would like to agree on how employees can make larger salary steps. The individual salary increase is now 2% or 4% depending on your assessment. We discuss whether we can improve this. Another example is the improvement of the home working arrangement. These are recognizable subjects. These topics have also been discussed by members of De Unie because they wanted to improve these terms of employment.

How further?

The parties have parted ways with the assignment to think about how we can meet the other party. We have to think about whether we can make a move in the pension file and in our wage demand.

Next consultation

We still have three days of negotiations ahead of us: March 22, March 28 and March 30. And April 1, 2022 is the reserve day.
