Rabobank: Survey of working hours scheme

October 04, 2021

Increase in complaints about working hours

Since a few weeks we have been receiving a lot of requests for support in the discussion about working hours. Most complaints are about being 'forced' to work on Saturday or Friday evenings. But there are also other points of discussion.

In the new collective labor agreement we have agreed that you can become a member of . for free for a year De Unie. Make use of it now!

The rules

The Rabobank collective labor agreement includes a brief agreement about determining your individual working hours.

Article 3.2 Working hours

Usual working hours are from Monday to Friday between 07.00 a.m. and 22.00 p.m. and Saturday between 08.00 a.m. and 17.00 p.m.

Individual working hours

The individual working hours of employees are agreed periodically in consultation between the manager and the employee.

Block times

The employer has the option of designating block times within the individual working hours. These are times when the employee must in any case be present.

The basic principle of this working hours scheme is that you yourself make an agreement about your working hours with your manager. For an appointment it is necessary that two people agree with each other.

In de praktijk

Members' questions are so wide-ranging that De Unie would like to find out whether the current collective labor agreements are being implemented correctly. For this we need more data. I would be happy to collect these from the Rabobank employees.

We know that questions arise in connection with the roll-out of Excellent Customer Service Financial Advice. Especially the Saturday opening agreed therein causes discussions.

In the request for advice I read:

Research by the company shows that 92% of customers want an appointment on a weekday. The company indicates that 8% of customers would like to be served on Saturdays; the company considers this a significant percentage.

With these percentages you expect a limited Saturday opening. However, this does not appear to be the case.

Survey for Financial Advisors

Because the questions mainly come from the financial advisors, I, representative Inge de Vries, would like to focus the research on this function group first.

Are you a financial advisor, you can here to the survey. You can fill in until Thursday 21 October. Help us collect data so that De Unie can start the discussion with Rabobank about this. This requires that a representative proportion of the financial advisers complete the survey. Also forward this newsletter to your colleagues, so that they can also make their voices heard.

Other functions

If you are not a financial advisor, but if it is also difficult for you to agree on your working hours in good consultation, please contact me. This can be done by sending an email to: inge.de.vries@unie.nl
