Coop and Plus Social Plan: the last stretch weighs the heaviest

November 24 2021

In our previous newsletter we have informed you about the status of the social plan. We have now had good consultations with the management and later with the works council (OR) of Coop. We still want to make agreements about flexible working, working from home and severance pay.

Always be the first to know about Coop and Plus news?

Haaksbergen distribution center

Due to the merger of Coop and Plus, there is now a distribution center within 1,5 hours of travel time. This means suitable work for the employees in Haaksbergen. They would otherwise lose their job and fall under the social plan. This is good news. However, it is possible that you would have made a different choice. In that case, the management has indicated that it is open to suitable solutions. If this is not suitable for you, I would like to hear from you. We will then see what we can do for you.

Social plan

We had a good conversation about the social plan. We have already come together on many points. The management wants to have the proposed agreements legally tested. The starting point remains the previous social plan.

Severance pay

The severance pay remains in accordance with the old transition payment scheme. This is therefore better than the current arrangement. The old scheme was worse for people with a short employment contract. We have agreed that the new scheme will be applied if it is more favorable for the employee.

Travel time and expense allowance

We have long talked about the travel allowance. The management did not want to change anything. Ultimately, the km reimbursement scheme was adjusted. Instead of
€ 0,15, € 0,19 will soon be reimbursed. Quite a few questions came in about traveling and the traffic jams that are always there and back. The outcome is that most employees can travel outside peak hours by adopting flexible working hours and working from home. This must be given shape in collaboration with the Works Council. It is expected that it will be suitable for almost every employee.

Guidance committee

Every employee can turn to the supervisory committee if he/she believes that injustice has been done. The previous redundancy plan stated that this committee consisted of two members appointed by the employer and two members appointed by the works council. We have adjusted this. The employer may appoint two members, the Works Council one and the trade unions also one. There will be an independent chairman. This is to prevent the employer from making a decision itself if the committee cannot reach a decision.

Consultation OR

The Works Council had also provided us with input in advance. Incidentally, that did not differ much from what I had already received from you. The consultation with the Works Council is excellent and we keep each other well informed of developments.

Continuation

The management will adjust the texts, after which we as trade unions will look at this next week. If we think it's good enough to put it to the members for approval, then we will. Otherwise there will be another conversation. The members will then receive the complete content of the social plan and can vote on it.

So now is the time to become a member! Only then will you vote!
