NN Group: Report on the collective labor agreement 8 March 2022

March 10 2022
National Netherlands trade union De Unie

On Tuesday 8 March 2022 we again held collective labor agreement consultations. As in the consultation of 23 February 2022, the parties to the collective labor agreement concentrated on the other subjects. All subjects still on the table, with the exception of salary and social plan. Pension was not an issue either, because that has been submitted to the pension working group.

Progress

In the negotiations we have made progress on a number of issues.

  1. We expect to be able to reach agreement on vitality leave;
  2. We expect to be able to agree on a method to grow faster through the salary scales.
  3. We have extensively discussed the topic of sustainable employability. The trade unions want to achieve two concrete goals in this context:
  • Have vacancies filled by internal employees.
  • Enabling senior employees to grow into a position that matches their salary level.

NN is more committed to pursuing a general sustainable employability policy. This policy has also been shaped in recent years. NN offers good instruments, but it does not reach the employees who need it.

  1. The interpretation of the work code (equivalent treatment of flex workers) keeps NN Group and the trade unions divided. It is not clear whether we can settle this issue to the satisfaction of trade unions.
  2. We also discuss the subject of supplement in the event of (partial) incapacity for work. In particular, we investigate whether it is better for employees if we include this in an insurance policy. The option to provide this through insurance turns out to be more complicated than we first thought.
  3. The other themes are not directly relevant to terms of employment.

Wage, social plan, pension

At the heart of a collective labor agreement are the subjects wages, social plan and pension. We discuss pensions in the pension working group. This is a tough subject where we are regularly confronted with new issues.

Next week you will receive a pension newsletter from De Unie.

Agenda

  • March 15: pension working group
  • March 22: retirement TV
  • March 29: pension working group
  • March 31: collective labor agreement

At the meeting of March 31, De Unie assess whether the result we can achieve is sufficient to present positively to the members. We have indicated in the members' meetings what we expect to be feasible in terms of salary. There was no positive response to this at the members' meetings. De Unie is working hard until March 31 to achieve the best possible result for you.

What can you do

You can help. This can be done by discussing the subject of salary increase in your team. This way you make your colleagues aware of the collective labor agreement negotiations. And you convey the message to NN that employees now consider a salary increase important. I get many inspiring examples from colleagues who have done this. And who have received a lot of appreciation from their colleagues for this. Do you have ideas on how we can make the importance of a good collective labor agreement clear to your colleagues and at NN? Or would you like to contribute ideas in our sounding board group? Please contact the representative Inge de Vries.
