NN Group: Report CLA consultations 14 October 2020
21 October 2020
On October 14, we held a collective agreement with the employer.
The most important thing in these consultations was that the employer had very clearly emphasized that NN's proposal not to structurally increase salaries CANNOT will change.
What finds De Unie of this?
We base the wage demand in collective bargaining negotiations on a combination of various factors. In doing so, we base ourselves on rational considerations that are appropriate for a company such as NN.
The proposal we made for the salary increase in the proposal letter takes into account:
- productivity development
- the financial scope that is possible in the organization
NN has been working on increasing productivity for some time now. This leads to job losses, you only do the same work with fewer colleagues. As far as we are concerned, part of the profit that NN achieves with this should go to the employees.
Inflation in 2020 is not 0%, the monthly inflation rates vary between 1,1 and 1,8%. This inflation causes your purchasing power to decline. That is why we ask for a structural salary increase.
NN's operational results for 2019 are positive. The same applies to the forecasts for 2020. Based on this too, we conclude that there is room to increase salaries. If in the future it turns out that NN will be loss-making because of Covid-19, we will have to take this into account. But that is not the case now.
We therefore disagree in principle with NN. What De Unie a structural salary increase in 2021 is part of the collective labor agreement. NN, on the other hand, sticks to the zero line.
What does this mean for the consultation?
NN has offered a small opening to further discuss a multi-year collective labor agreement with a structural salary increase. Then the pension scheme and the social plan will also be involved in the collective labor agreement consultation. After all, both schemes will expire on 31 December 2021. In the case of a one-year collective labor agreement, they are not part of the negotiations. When we talk about multi-year collective labor agreement, social plan and pension scheme are included in the consultation.
We think it is wise to at least investigate what your employer wants to propose when we are talking about a collective labor agreement with a longer term. If this option does offer the prospect of achieving a new NN CLA, then we must give it a chance.
That is why we, together with the other trade unions, have informed your employer that a one-year collective labor agreement without a structural salary increase is not negotiable for us. Furthermore, that we are willing to explore whether a two-year collective labor agreement offers the prospect of reaching a collective labor agreement. We consider a structural salary increase in both 2021 and 2022 to be a (non-negotiable) condition.
How does it go on?
The collective labor agreement negotiations will continue on 18 November 2020. In between, we still have a short conversation in which NN responds to the proposals letters from the trade unions.
