Metal and Technology: collective labor agreement negotiations

28 September 2021

Even after four rounds of negotiations, employers in the Metal and Technology sector have still not put forward a wage offer.

Moreover, employers still do not want to abandon their proposals to deteriorate existing rights in the current collective labor agreement. You should think of:

  1. Generation Pact, from 60 years, only if your employer approves and from 63 years and 4 months only as a right;
  2. Hand in senior days and move it from now 54 to 60 years.
  3. Conservation measures, making it compulsory for the elderly to work overtime and also in shifts up to 10 years for AOW. That is already a shift from 55 to 57 years.

In exchange for this, employers are willing to agree an RVU scheme with us that allows employees to stop working three years earlier than their state pension age. BUT, once you participate in the Generation Pact, you can no longer opt for the RVU. This confirms employers once again how bizarre their proposals are.

Employers are prepared to raise youth wages by 5%. That seems like a lot, but even then the young people are still far behind other technical sectors. For example, in the Collective Labor Agreement Metalektro it has been agreed that youth wages will be abolished completely. And in the Motor Vehicles and Two-wheelers, the youth wage is up to 300 euros higher. You can here read the rest of the employers' proposals.

We now wonder whether the employers are aware of what they are doing now; At a time when everyone is eagerly looking for qualified employees, employers are trying to chase their hard-working employees out of the Metal and Technology industry. While the sector is now booming.

The unions, including De Unie, are now in consultation with the supporters to determine how we can nevertheless arrive at a new collective labor agreement in which we make agreements to retain current employees and to make the sector (more) attractive for new employees.

We are still sticking to our proposals regarding, among other things, a responsible wage increase (inflation + 1%), new agreements to increase sustainable employability (better reconcile work-life balance), continuation and further development of the generation pact and possibilities. to save extra leave.

We are going on September 30th with De Unie LBM (National Industrial Group Metal) in consultation about our follow-up strategy to inform our members about the latest developments. After consultation with the members, we will determine our final position on the follow-up process with regard to the continuation of the negotiations for a new collective labor agreement. Immediately afterwards we will inform you of the outcome. Do you want to stay informed (live) of the latest developments? Like and follow us on social media:
