ING: Good quarterly figures

ING: billions in profit for shareholders, but employees are out in the cold

Today, ING announced the figures for the third quarter. They don't lie, the gross profit from ordinary operations before risk costs (sorry, mouth full) amounts to no less than € 2,6 billion, an increase of 18,8% compared to the same quarter in 2021. The prospects for the future are also extremely rosy, according to Steven van Rijswijk.

Shareholder Reward

Shareholders can fully participate in this. Partly due to an additional distribution of 1,5 billion, the total payout per share rose from € 1,01 to € 1,36, an increase of 34,7%.

But not for the employees

But that's about it, because at the same time ING is sticking to a salary offer of 3,0% for employees in the Netherlands. A more stark contrast is hardly imaginable. With an inflation rate of well over 10%, ING is literally leaving its employees out in the cold. And all because, according to a secret benchmark study, ING employees would earn considerably more than would be paid for the same work in other companies.

Even if that were the case (which is really debatable), that doesn't justify a salary offer that leads to such a large loss of purchasing power, while the company's results are through the roof, thanks to those same employees.

ING: billions in profit for shareholders, but employees are left out in the cold

Today, ING announced the third quarter financial results. And they are very good! Pre-provision profit excluding regulatory costs and volatile items amounts to no less than € 2.6 billion, an increase of 18.8% when compared to the same quarter in 2021. Also, the outlook is particularly rosy, according to Steven van Rijswijk.

No reward for you

But here's where the good news ends. ING persists in a salary offer of 3.0% for employees in the Netherlands. A stronger contrast is hardly imaginable. With a price inflation of well over 10%, ING is literally leaving its employees out in the cold. And all that because, according to a closely guarded benchmark survey, ING employees are overpaid when compared to other companies.

Even if that were the case (which is really debatable), that doesn't justify a salary offer that leads to such a huge loss of purchasing power, while the results are going through the roof at the hands of those same employees
