DSM Netherlands: Collective Labor Agreement 2022 and beyond

February 16 2022

State of play of negotiations after round III

On January 26, I informed you about DSM's first collective labor agreement proposal:

  • A collective labor agreement with a duration of 9 months: from April 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022.
  • One-off payment of € 700 gross as of April 1, 2022.
  • Structural wage increase as of September 1, 2022 by 1,75%.
The increase of 1,75% will be at least €900 gross (bottom).

This amounts to an extension of a current collective labor agreement by 9 months and in that context you could also speak of a bridging collective labor agreement.

Insulting and not to be taken seriously

You have informed us en masse that this proposal is far too thin and cannot be taken seriously by you. We already communicated this message to the employer in round II.

Round III: Disappointing and Worrying

On Tuesday, February 15, a repeat of moves threatened. We are very disappointed in the course of the negotiations. DSM shows no inclination to improve its first proposal. This means that we have to conclude that the gap is large. It was expected to be out soon this year. In any case before 1 April next. It doesn't work out this way. That is worrying.

What is your opinion? What do you think of DSM's attitude towards you?

The joint workers' organizations have no choice but to let their members speak. Partly by visiting locations and partly by giving members the opportunity to respond to this newsletter. Let us know how you view this! We'd love to hear from you, how are you doing in the “competition”. How are we going to ensure that DSM is more responsive to our proposals?

There must be a better starting point to continue the negotiations. Time moves on: At the end of November, we asked you to provide us with ideas and suggestions for improving the collective labor agreement. Two months later we see how inflation is developing and DSM's annual figures for 15 will be known as of February 2021.

In short: There is plenty to discuss and if necessary it can now also be done on location (but it can still be done digitally).

Let us know: this can be done directly by email john.kapteijn@unie.nl or call 06-5252 2067 or via the executives.
