Collective labor agreement for health insurers

 

On Monday, June 24, 2019 De Unie renegotiated with the employer about the collective labor agreement for health insurers. In this newsletter I explain how far we are with the negotiations.

 

 

Situation

I have already announced that we are also talking about the pension scheme in these collective bargaining negotiations. The pension world is currently in full swing. We cannot rule out the possibility that the new developments will affect the current pension contract as early as 2020.

Our pension situation

We have been hearing a lot about our (future) pensions recently. I hereby provide information about the situation of the SBZ pension fund, about developments with regard to legislation and regulations and what this can mean for collective bargaining. Therefore, in three steps, a short update on what this means for us. (View here the attachment).

What does this mean for collective bargaining?

In a number of areas, employers have and vakbondand a few nice agreements are already in the pipeline for the collective labor agreement. A few examples: we want to introduce a sabbatical and give extra incentives for following training courses. Employers and unions have already agreed in this collective labor agreement process that we want more clarity about the pension before December 1, 2019 and that the wage agreement that we are going to make will take effect on July 1, 2019.

With regard to pension, it is not yet possible to make a definitive agreement because the social partners first need more information about the possible consequences of the commission parameters for the pension agreements in 2020. However, the social partners have developed a framework within which they want to tackle this issue. This conceptual framework has the following steps:

  • Gaining insight into the possible consequences of committee parameters for 2020 and beyond
  • Based on these figures, make an agreement about a maximum premium in 2020 with possible consequences for the content of the scheme in that year (this may be necessary if the premium will increase sharply due to the new calculation rules of the parameters committee)
  • Negotiating a new contract in 2020:
    - with a term of approximately 2 years;
    - where all parties want to avoid excessive premium increases (you pay
    about 25% of a premium increase);
    - a new ambition is formulated for the scheme in the medium term.
  • In 2022, hold talks about setting up a new system based on the pension agreement.

De Unie will continue the collective labor agreement consultations on 9 and 19 September 2019, with the aim of concluding a collective labor agreement in September 2019.
