CAO Banks report consultation 14 December 2021

December 16 2021

The collective labor agreement consultations for the Collective Labor Agreement for the Banks continued on 14 December 2021. We continued to exchange views. The parties are examining whether the subjects to which both trade unions and employers attach importance can lead to sound agreements.

All parties in the consultation consider it important to reach agreements on key themes such as structural wage development, working with a sense of place and time, sustainable employability and pensions.

Progress

Unfortunately, the fact that we find the same themes important does not mean that we can quickly conclude a collective labor agreement. The vision on salary increases, for example, is still far apart.

Employers emphasize that the cost-income ratio of banks is under pressure. De Unie recognizes that the financial markets are uncertain. However, employees are also confronted with high inflation in private, which means that they also have to balance their own expenses and income. That is why we want to make a salary agreement that at least compensates for inflation. It will not be easy to agree on the collective salary increase.

Another subject where the views of trade unions on the one hand and employers on the other are not yet aligned is the life-phase-conscious personnel policy. The employers point out that banks actually need IT staff and other highly trained specialists in the fields of reporting, control & risk, HR, compliance and audit. They find it important to be an attractive employer for the target group for which they currently have vacancies. De Unie Of course we also think it is important to make collective labor agreements for this, but we also want employers to pay attention to the employees who have brought the bank to where it is now.

Continuation

The collective labor agreement consultations will continue on Thursday 6 January 2022. I hope we can report more progress then.
