Aegon: consultation of collective labor agreement and social plan

to April 08, 2020

On Monday April 6, 2020 De Unie Extensive consultation held with Aegon, the other trade union and a representative of the central works council.

Consultation April 6, 2020

The purpose of the consultation was to agree on subsequent steps for the collective labor agreement consultation. Since the usual meetings are not possible now, we have looked for alternatives. The goal remains to agree on a new collective labor agreement and a new social plan before 1 July 2020. We have selected themes that can be prepared in smaller working groups. So that we can make a smooth start when the consultation resumes. This way we can limit the loss of time. In preparation, the parties to the collective labor agreement will hold talks with experts in the field of sustainable employability on 16 April.

Framework for the consultation

De Unie represents the members in consultation with Aegon. That is why it is important that I have a good idea of the opinion of the members. A survey has been drawn up for this. After all, it is also important for the consultation in working groups that the opinion of the members of De Unie resonates. Have you already completed this survey? If not, you can here to do.

What if there is a delay?

For the collective labor agreement it is legally arranged that it has an after-effect for one year. If it is not possible to conclude a new CLA before 1 July 2020, the existing CLA will continue to apply. This is not preferable De Unie. One of our objectives is to agree on a collective salary increase that will take effect on 1 July 2020. This will be difficult if the collective labor agreement is only concluded at a later date.

The statutory retroactive effect regulation does not apply to the social plan. However, employees find an up-to-date social plan very important, especially in uncertain times. Still, it does not necessarily have to be a problem if there is no social plan by 1 July 2020. The major requests for advice have already been submitted, which means that the personnel consequences of these requests for advice must be handled according to the rules of the current social plan. Also for employees who become redundant after 1 July 2020. Should Aegon submit new requests for advice after July 1, 2020, then De Unie of course talking to Aegon. It cannot be the case that employees become redundant without providing for the social consequences. The employer also gives the impression of wanting to arrange this properly.
