I will still work if my partner dies
Of course, nothing changes in your own income. However, you are sometimes entitled to an Anw benefit or survivor's pension - you can read more about this in this article. In addition, your partner may have a supplementary Anw gap insurance. This is a supplement to the pension scheme via the employer and compensates for the lack of an Anw benefit. Check the collective labor agreement or your partner's pension scheme to find out whether there is a supplementary Anw gap insurance.
I am retired when my partner dies
Do you live together or are you married? Then you will receive a lower AOW benefit than if you are single. Your AOW benefit will therefore be higher if your partner dies. On top of that, there will be a possible survivor's pension - on top of your own pension benefit of course.
