That is why the role of retraining is becoming increasingly important in preparing for changes in the labor market.
What should I pay attention to?
Is there a chance that your work will change drastically or even disappear completely? Then of course you want to know that in time. Therefore, keep an eye on major developments in your sector or at similar organizations. In addition, do not forget that you have rights as an employee, even if your job disappears. For example, you may not just be assigned to a completely different position or given a completely new set of tasks. And does your employer want to proceed with the dismissal? Then he is bound by the rules and conditions that apply: from application for dismissal to transition payment.
What does this mean for me?
If it is likely that your job will disappear in the long term, retraining can be a good alternative. It is useful not to wait until you have to take action. Find out in advance which work suits you, your skills and your interests, for example by spending a day with someone who does that work. Do you have a direction in mind? Then you can prepare for this in advance: perhaps you can already follow a course and start your retraining.
