Whatever your request for help: the legal specialists at De Unie assist you during disagreements and conflicts in the workplace. To make it clearer what exactly you can benefit from us, we highlight a true situation every month. We describe the member's question and tell them what De Unie has done to resolve the situation and share the outcome with you. In this edition: how we helped a member stop working through the RVU scheme.
This story really happened, but the name was invented - this is how we protect our member's privacy.
The problem
Jeroen wanted to stop working in 2025 by using the RVU scheme: the Early Retirement Scheme. In order to qualify for this, Jeroen had to meet a number of conditions and obtain permission from his manager. The manager initially rejects the request, after which Jeroen contacts De Unie.
The principle
Apart from the amount of the benefit, your age and the start of the RVU scheme, there are no fixed additional conditions: the employer determines these themselves. Employers are also not obliged to have an RVU scheme. Yet more and more organisations do.
This is what the Union has done
De Unie looked together with Jeroen at the conditions his employer sets. What turned out? Jeroen already met all the conditions and only needed permission from his manager. With our help, Jeroen wrote a letter, clearly explaining that and how he meets all the conditions. After a final check by De Unie, Jeroen sent the letter to his supervisor.
The solution
The letter helped: Jeroen was awarded the RVU benefit. He received a settlement agreement, containing concrete agreements about the further handling. This has De Unie read and checked. After that, Jeroen could sign with a clear conscience. He will retire in 2025 by means of the RVU scheme.
