Care and Security: Negotiations social plan

June 16, 2022

On Wednesday 15 June I, Emanuel Geurts (representative), had an exploratory conversation with Henk Gerla and Marlies Guezen of Zorg en Zekerheid about a social plan. Below is a short feedback about it.

Reason for social plan

The reason for a social plan is the reduction of the three Zorg en Zekerheid stores in Alphen aan de Rijn, Hoofddorp and Leiden to one store in Leiden as of 1 February 2023. The customers of Zorg en Zekerheid are visiting the stores less and less and their healthcare business more and more online. A development that did not come completely out of the blue and led to the reduction from six to three health care stores a few years ago. It does mean that a number of jobs will be lost. Zorg en Zekerheid mainly wants to relocate the sixteen employees involved internally, but for a number of them leaving will be the next step.

Continuation

The employees concerned have been informed and the Works Council (OR) has received a request for advice on the reorganization. The trade unions will receive a draft social plan this week in which it becomes clear how Zorg en Zekerheid wants to shape the reassignment and termination. Two follow-up appointments have been made to discuss the draft social plan, namely Friday 24 June and Friday 1 July 2022. The intention is to be able to provide clarity about the social plan before the summer holidays. Whether this is successful depends on the employer's proposals regarding the content of the social plan and in particular the amount of the severance payment. So to be continued.
