VodafoneZiggo: Result of referendum collective labor agreement negotiation result

June 14, 2022

Process

The negotiations with VodafoneZiggo on a new collective labor agreement have recently led to a negotiation result. In the run-up to the negotiations, research firm Innervoice conducted research into employees' preferences regarding their terms of employment. 10 panel sessions with employees led to a survey among all employees, in which 2804 employees ultimately participated; a turnout of 40%. The insights from this research process formed the basis of the negotiations that followed with VodafoneZiggo. We call the process that has been followed DigiC. The next step in the DigiC process involved being able to cast a vote (by all employees, union member or not) on the result of the negotiations (referendum).

Rash

The result of the referendum on the negotiation result is now known. Research agency Innervoice has determined the following result:

Of the 6690 eligible voters, 4692 employees voted; a turnout of no less than 70%. These employees voted as follows:

  • Yes, I agree to the 1-year collective labor agreement and the social plan: 22%
  • Yes, I agree to the 2-year collective labor agreement and the social plan: 18%
  • No: 60%

This result means that there is no support for the negotiation result and as a result, the collective labor agreement negotiation result (1 or 2 year collective labor agreement in combination with the renewed social plan) will be De Unie not be converted into a new collective labor agreement.

What now?

In the referendum, VodafoneZiggo employees were able to explain their vote. These disclosures will now be carefully analyzed to understand the reasons employees gave for rejecting this result and the reasons given for agreeing.

With this information, we are in a position to discuss the next step with VodafoneZiggo, which should ultimately lead to a new result that can count on the support of the majority of employees. For now this means that there is no collective agreement with De Unie† The vote was also negative at FNV and CNV, which means that there is no agreement on the total package of agreements and we will go back to the negotiating table. As a result of this vote, VodafoneZiggo has now also indicated that it wishes to enter into discussions with us. A first appointment is scheduled for July 5.
