Review of the first day
In first round of negotiations all parties have announced their commitment. The members of De Unie The wage offer from employers was particularly disappointing and disappointing. I gave this feedback to the employer delegation. There is curiosity about what other topics will (concretely) entail. For example, it is still unclear what employers propose to simplify the current leave regulations. This will be made clear in the next round.
Other topics than wages
On Monday 4 November 2024, we did not negotiate about wages, but we did work on substantive topics. For example, we discussed working time reduction, sustainable employability, diversity and inclusion and indexation of the disability pension.
Reduced working hours and working from home
We had an open discussion about the reasons to investigate what a reduction in working hours would mean for the sector. The role and effect of AI, the flexibility that the current collective labor agreement offers to offer employees a balance in their work and private life, home working options (partly as a result of corona), the good conversation between employee and manager and labor productivity. The collective labor agreement parties want to discuss this further without us being able to draw any conclusions from it yet.
Equal Pay
About diversity and inclusion, it was exchanged that the parties are satisfied with what has been achieved in this area, but that we do not have a clear idea of what exactly the next step is. The collective labor agreement working group 'equal pay' has started but is not yet finished and will continue its work in any case. It also brought us to the discussion about (self)regulation in the sector, the role of the collective labor agreement in this and the effect on the large(r) and small(er) insurers. Do we want to wait for the upcoming legislation and regulations, or do we want to be ahead of the game? And if so, how? There are good arguments for both sides, so to be continued.
Pension scheme
Another point was the indexation of the disability pension. In the pension market, indexation based on salary is apparently not available and therefore the current collective labour agreement article is not feasible. The parties agree that we do want to solve this for the target group in question and will make a request for indexation with a fixed component. This will be brought back to the table.
Next round
Wages, duration and other financial matters such as additional and overtime will be included in the integral proposal that employers will make to us in the next round. That will be there soon, namely 11 November 2024. Finally, the fourth day of negotiations is on the agenda for 9 December 2024. It is ambitious to already have a result where we are now, but we will do our best.
