In this message we inform you about the Month of the Union that takes place in October. And what you as an employee can gain from it!
What is Union Month?
In the collective labor agreement, unions and employers have agreed to organize a 'Union Month'. The Union Month is a joint initiative of unions and employers to draw attention to the work, role and usefulness of unions.
Why a Union Month?
In the past, there was a lot of hard fighting for many employment conditions that we now consider to be completely normal. Trade unions played a major role in this. But even today, employees still have wishes and needs when it comes to their employment conditions. Trade unions represent employees in order to agree on new, improved employment conditions with their employers. It is very useful for employers that their employees are collectively represented by professional parties. Based on this shared interest, we ask for extra attention for the role of trade unions once a year.
What do employees gain from this?
October is the Month of the Trade Union. This also ties in nicely with the start of the collective labor agreement negotiations on October 14, 2024. The employers in the insurance industry facilitate this action and reimburse the membership fee for twelve months De Unie for 50%This applies to existing members of De Unie as for new members. The campaign is being disseminated by the Association of Insurers and the trade unions and also via the BTO, platform for employee representation in the insurance sector.
Becoming a member of De Unie?
On October 14, negotiations for the new collective labor agreement will start. Members will always be informed directly of the latest news. Members have a direct say in the topics that are discussed during the negotiations. We collect our proposals for the new collective labor agreement based on the direct input of our members. When an agreement is reached, members can always vote on that agreement.
