De Unie considers a thorough social plan very important for the employees of VDL Nedcar. We discussed this during our meeting on 7 July 2022. As long as the uncertainty about the future of VDL Nedcar remains, a good safety net is indispensable.

Future perspective
The management has informed us confidentially about VDL Nedcar's future prospects. Various scenarios and strategies that can guarantee the continued existence of VDL Nedcar were discussed.
We are pleasantly surprised to see that the employer is finally taking our concerns about the survival of VDL Nedcar very seriously. This is apparent from the scenarios that the employer plans to work out. Our repeated warning not to bet on “one horse” every time has been well received by the employer. Our direct involvement is also really taken into account.
The explanation of the possible scenarios and our role in them gives us more confidence about the continued existence of VDL Nedcar, in whatever form. This allows maximum employment, knowledge and experience to be maintained in the region. In addition, the plans offer more development opportunities for innovation and sustainable production. We will always put the subject of “healthy and sustainable working” high on the employer's agenda.
Social plan
We have informed the management of VDL Nedcar that we will maintain our wish for a social plan for the time being. The final scenarios must first be elaborated and assessed in terms of content. We will come back to this after the summer holidays.
